Welcome to Battery Lodge
Built in 1865, Battery lodge is a superb mid-Victorian house which enjoys spectacular views across Rothesay Bay to the Argyllshire hills. The house was once owned by Captain John McKirdy who in 1855 sailed his ship, The Captain of the Seas pictured at the top of the page, from Liverpool to Melbourne in 83 days.
Your hosts, Lorraine and Martin Leyden, offer attractive bedrooms, some with ensuite facilities, most with colour TV and tea/coffee makers.
Full Scottish cooked breakfasts are provided to prepare guests for a days touring on the Isle of Bute and evening dinner is available.
Battery lodge has a residential licence and guests can enjoy a drink in the cosy and attractive lounge bar with outstanding views over the bay.
The also has a pool table and a sauna.
